SportsShoes Podium Events are proud to announce that on a cold Saturday night in Barrowford, Lancashire, adidas athlete Emile Cairess made history by breaking both the British and European 10-mile records in a sensational time of 45:57!

The previous record of 46:02 has stood for almost 30 years, set by Britain's Richard Nerurkar at Twickenham in 1993.
In the same race, Hugo Milner and Kadar Omar finished second and third in 49.23 and 51:02 respectively.
Emile wore adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 running shoes for his record-breaking performance.

Chris Barnes, SportsShoes Race Director and the man behind Podium Events, said;
'Tonight we were lucky enough to be part of athletic history as we witnessed an incredible performance from Emile. He is without doubt, one of the most humble men I've ever met and it was fitting that the person he celebrated with first was his mum, who has been by his side every step of the way. To cap a remarkable night, he then offered all of his prize money to his pacers as a sign of gratitude.

Alongside the Breaking 10 event were three PODIUM Mile races.
In the elite men's race Henry McLuckie took the win in 4:07, Calli Thackery won the elite women's race in 4:41 and Luke Minns took the open race title in 4:22.
